Following the ACU&S ballot, we stopped posting new material on this site because the reason for it had largely disappeared. A majority of ACU&S members chose to join the ECB OA (as it was then but changed since to ECB ACO), in our view correctly, if for no other reason that it was the one organisation likely still to remain in existence. The attraction of hitching one's wagon to an organisation set up by Barrie Stuart-King and run solely by him and by his circle of friends was minimal. They had already demonstrated that they simply had no idea about fiscal control nor of proper management.

We were going to report further when there was something to tell you about what we believe to have been a remarkable lapse amounting to serious maladministration on the part of Companies House in registering ICUS. Having met with a refusal to reply to any argument, albeit one based entirely on their own published guidelines, and finding it impossible to elicit such reply at any level in Companies House, with the help of MP, Dr Vincent Cable, this has gone to the Parliamentary Ombudsman where it is at present. We will give you whatever news emerges.

And what of the Stuart-King so-called consortium? You may not be surprised that filing earlier this month of abbreviated accounts under provisions for small companies - this for companies now claiming on flimsy grounds to be international in scope - gives renewed confirmation that the application submitted to Companies House was a collection of falsehood, misrepresentation and, in one case, alteration of published minutes. This is a serious matter both for Companies House, which may not have exercised proper care, and certainly for the directors who knowingly submitted false information. We shall continue to pursue this in every way open to us.

Meanwhile, it will not be news that ECB ACO has underperformed substantially so far and some thoughtless mistakes have been made. We hope and believe that this can and will be put right, and in that regard welcome the appointment of Nick Cousins. Some ground has been lost though and it cannot be recovered overnight. We would ask you to be patient for a while longer to give Nick the chance to get to grips with a difficult situation.

Meanwhile, welcome back. New material is being posted under Fact files.
