| DAVID BRANDON Regions Co-ordinator | Behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly I Samuel, ch.26, v.21 |
5th September 2004...we finally moved forward into the 21st Century with the rollout of our first 25 laptop computers and projectors, thanks to generous funding from our new sponsors......the sponsorship so many detractors said would never happen....by the time you read this, the other 100 Instructors will have received their equipment. October 2004: How's That? no.295.
So, changing from an Association to an Institute offers not only important 'status' benefits, but also major hard-cash opportunities and benefits.....we can't, at this stage, put a figure on how much these could amount to, where they might come from, or when.....
A joint-venture partnership deal involving, say, c£250,000-worth of IT equipment and a three-year £300,000 funding package.....Commercial Joint-Venture Partnerships (JVPs) provide additional sources of regular income.
January 2005, A Consultation document for Members.
It became apparent to us back in May that someone had to start thinking about addressing what was happening! It was no good waiting until the day the Association finally became bankrupt! Then, there would be no way back for any of us.....
The final straw for each of us came when the wise counsel of Lord Griffiths was discarded.....
We quickly drew our own conclusions and decided that the ACU&S was heading rapidly downhill towards extinction....
Accordingly, what had started out as a fall-back position was now, in our opinion, the only option......
You may ask why we have not been more open before now...we simply could not take the risk...the plan...always ...to make our intention known once we had established a viable alternative...We are not in the business of making false promises on which we cannot deliver....
The ECB are making statements....that the ACU&S are insolvent....This is incorrect. We are not insolvent. Ask the finance team.
We are working flat out to create a new organisation...that offers the same benefits and...acceptance...of qualifications....we are determined to bring this project to fruition.....Yours in cricket.....
'Institute' website, 12/2005 and subsequently: Open letter e-mail response to the e-mail from Mr G Lowden suspending Mr Brandon and others as ACU&S officers.
Questions you raise, such as what happens to the equipment, need to be addressed by ACU&S not ourselves. Response by e-mail to Mr Alan Flook's 20.12.2005 e-mail.
