The things they said!
MARTIN REED
Deputy Treasurer
Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs: like a sharp razor, working deceitfully

One of the criticisms that could be made at the AGM is that we have not properly supervised the Post Office sponsorship payments (on JTS and other projects) which have gone directly to suppliers and not passed through the ACU&S accounts. I don't feel there is anything wrong in principle with the PO settling bills direct but we should keep a close eye - and a specific note - of all bills that are settled, if only so we can accurately state how much of our expenditure the PO (et al) has met.
Bearing in mind that the arrangement with our new sponsor will be similar, I would suggest that Chris R should immediately start a new account in QuickBooks - separate from the main account......to keep track of things.......At the end of the year we can show....the money which has been paid out of (sic) our behalf.
This process should be set up immediately, so that at the AGM, if a query is raised, you can say that we already have the system in place - even if, as is quite possible for the current year to date, there may be no actual entries on the account as yet.....
(Even if, as he says).
....I still think it would be worth having some additional available at the AGM. I have seen some of the P & L summaries which members have made up for themselves and it would be nice to know if they are right!
9.3.2005: e-mail to P Freeman; cc K Smith, BS-K, C Rawson, D Harman. ( They were right. Had they checked, they would have seen that the figures were compiled from the audited accounts 2000 - 2005).

I read CNR's email with amazement. Do we really only have c£17,500 cash in the current account at the moment? Where has everything else gone? And what about the sponsorship money which was meant to be coming in this financial year? We have 29 days to get this fixed up otherwise I would say we are in deep trouble.
2.10.2004: e-mail to Freeman; cc D Harman, C Rawson, K Smith, BS-K. (So why was he silent at the AGM?)

I am reading these emails from CNR with increasing concern. The subscription collection got us over the hump but we are now desperate (I don't think that is too strong a word) for the payment of the sponsorship money which has been promised and invoiced.
If we get to the Finance Board in January and there is still nothing received, I shall be proposing the suspension of all our PDB activities until further notice......
.......We cannot continue to haemorrhage funds like this with still no sign of the sponsorship funding which we have often been told is to be received.
12.12.2004: e-mail to FReeman; cc M Charman, C Rawson, K Smith, D Harman, BS-K. (Again, why the silence at the AGM? It was 3 months later and still there was no sign of sponsorship money!)
